One lucky Year 10 student will have the chance to tell a story about their life and represent the City of Boroondara in the ABC’s Takeover Melbourne competition.

Takeover Melbourne provides a platform for young Melburnians to be heard and to share their experiences, challenges and passions with the rest of the city.

Thirty-two winners - one from each council area across greater Melbourne - will work with ABC producers to have their stories featured across ABC platforms. 

Who is eligible to enter? 

Year 10 students and/or young people aged 15-17 years, who live, work or study in the City of Boroondara or a local council area within greater metropolitan Melbourne.

What should my story be about?

Entries should be a true story about you or your community. It might be a personal story about an aspect or moment of your life, a challenge you’ve had to overcome or something important that has happened in your community.

What form should my entry take?

It can be submitted in any format including writing, video, photos and audio. The only limits are:

  • Audio or video: 2-4 minutes.
  • Text: 300-400 words.
  • Images: about 5 to make up a story.

What are the prizes?

  • Chance to have your winning entry professionally produced by ABC staff and featured on the ABC.

Important dates

  • Entries close on Friday 26 June 2020.
  • Winners will be announced in September 2020.
