On Wednesday 11 March 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) classified the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak a pandemic. On Monday 16 March, the State Government announced a state of emergency in Victoria due to COVID-19.

We are closely monitoring the rapidly escalating situation and working with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), who are the leading health authority in Victoria.

We understand this is a challenging time for everyone in our community. We are implementing a number of measures and making changes to protect the community and staff from the risks associated with COVID-19.

They are detailed below after this message from the Mayor of Boroondara Cr Cynthia Watson.

Coronavirus support hotline

We have launched a dedicated hotline to help our residents who need it most during this challenging time.

Right now, our priority is to help seniors, people living with a disability, or people living alone who may be unable to leave the house. Our support team can arrange local emergency relief support or refer people to partner organisations and agencies who can help.

If you need help, call us on 9278 4444 and press 5 to speak to a member of our support team between 8.30am and 5.15pm. You can also email [email protected]

We will continue to assess and adjust our relief services to meet the needs of our community as the pandemic progresses.

If you think you have coronavirus (COVID-19), please contact the Department of Health and Human Services dedicated hotline on 1800 675 398
